Burglar in Bel Air Hills Caught on Tape NR11472kr

Los Angeles:  A security surveillance system has captured a burglary suspect breaking into and burglarizing a house in the Bel Air Hills area of Los Angeles.

On Monday, October 3, 2011, at around 9 p.m., surveillance cameras captured a suspect smashing a rear window and entering a house in the 2000 block of Coldwater Canyon Boulevard.  The suspect is a 25- to 35-year-old African-American male with black hair who stands 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall.  He weighs 150 to 160 pounds and was wearing a shirt with the letters “FLYS” on the front.

The suspect took jewelry and cash with an estimated value of $122,800 and is believed to be a serial burglar responsible for numerous thefts from recent months throughout upscale areas of West Los Angeles, Southern San Fernando Valley and the Hollywood Hills.  Detectives need the public’s help to identify the suspect and stop his prolific crimes.  They also believe others are working with the suspect to commit the burglaries.

Anyone with information about this crime or who can help identify any suspects associated with these crimes is asked to call West Los Angeles Burglary Detective John Eum at 310-44-1565.  During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (1-877-527-3247).   Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (1-800-222-8477).  Tipsters may also contact Crime Stoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone.  All text messages should begin with the letters “LAPD.” Tipsters may also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on "webtips" and follow the prompts.
