WHEN: Sunday, November 22, 2015 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

WHERE: LAPD West Los Angeles Police Station 1663 Butler Avenue Los Angeles, California 90025

WHY: To collect non-perishable food items for under-privileged families. According to Reserve Officer Harris Birken, “the program started when an officer overheard a child tell a friend how hungry he was, because it was his turn not to eat last night.” This was incredibly upsetting to hear, as no child should ever go hungry.

Reserve Officer Birken continued to say, “Last year we raised approximately 37,000 pounds of food, which made a huge impact in the lives of many families. This year, we would like to beat that number and are asking for the public’s help to accomplish our goal.”

CONTACT: Anyone who wishes to gather non-perishable food items and participate in this event to end hunger is asked to call Sgt. Justin Scott or Reserve Officer Birken, West Los Angeles Community Relations Office at (310) 444-0735 or (661) 733-4888.
