email Captain Beverly Lewis began
her law enforcement career as a police officer in 1991. She
promoted to Detective in October 1997, to Sergeant in October 2000,
and to Lieutenant in October 2006.

Captain Lewis is currently the Commanding Officer of West Valley
Area. She has worked a variety of assignments including patrol,
narcotics, detectives, homicide and internal affairs. As a
supervisor, Captain Lewis held the distinction of
detective/sergeant and as such supervised subordinates in both
ranks. She was previously assigned as the Patrol Commanding
Officer, Devonshire Division and the Commanding Officer, Valley
Traffic Division.

Captain Lewis has attended several leadership schools which
include: California Post Management School and the Sherman Block
Leadership Institute. She is also a graduate of the 254th Session
of the FBI National Academy and the Senior Management Institute for
Police at Boston College. Captain Lewis is the recipient of the
Police Star and the Meritorious Unit Citation for her efforts while
assigned to Focus Attack Linking Community Organizations and
Neighborhoods (FALCON).

Captain Lewis is a member of the Association of Black Law
Enforcement Executives (ABLE), National Organization of Black Law
Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), Los Angeles Women's Police Officers
and Associates (LAWPOA), California Homicide Investigators
Association (CHIA), California Narcotics Officers Association
(CNOA) and the National Black Police Officers Association

Captain Lewis was born in South America and raised in Brooklyn New
York. She is a graduate of the University of Laverne where she
obtained her Bachelors of Art degree in Public
