Jeanette Capaldi has been a volunteer for West Valley Area Police Station for approximately four years. During her tenure, she has demonstrated, in every assignment, the desire, enthusiasm, and ability to get the job done. She always is first to volunteer on assignments or tasks that are not necessarily fun or exciting.
Jeanette has worked various assignments and events during this time. While assigned to the Reseda Sub-Station, Jeanette managed the front desk with duties that included greeting citizens, assisting citizens with basic crime prevention information and materials as well as completing initial information for crime reports.
Jeanette has recently has been assigned to the Community Relations Office. This has proven to be an outstanding assignment for her. She possesses a great sense of compassion and concern for all with whom she comes in contact with. In most cases, she is able to answer and solve any problem a citizen may have. When she doesn’t have an answer she will research the problem and call the person back.
Jeanette presently manages our Volunteer Program. This is a very time consuming endeavor. With over 100 volunteer packages to manage and with new applicants constantly coming in, her efforts in this assignment are extremely beneficial to West Valley Area. It is essential that these volunteers are processed properly and meet all the requirements.
During the past year, Jeanette has volunteered hundreds of hours on many assignments related to the West Valley Community and the Los Angeles Police Department. In August 2002, Jeanette was voted in by her fellow Community-Police Advisory Board members as Co-Chair. She has done an outstanding job in this assignment and has been a great partner, working closely with the Commanding Officer of West Valley. Jeanette regularly volunteers at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Celebrity Golf Tournament as well as the West Valley and PALS Golf tournaments. Jeanette participates in all of our Holiday Assistance programs not only volunteering her time but also donating toys and food to needy families.
A "Great" example of Jeanette’s sincere efforts in helping others and volunteering was during our annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. Not only did she help organize and facilitate the event she insisted on working the event, in other words, she "Volunteered to Serve her fellow Volunteers".
For this and so many other reasons, Jeanette is West Valley Area Volunteer of the Year for 2002. |
