West Valley Area, the fourth largest geographic area of the Los Angeles Police Department, encompasses approximately 52 square miles. West Valley is bounded by the Santa Monica Mountains on the south, Chatsworth and Roscoe Blvd on the north, Van Nuys on the east and the city limit (Calabasas) on the west. West Valley Community Police Station is under the jurisdiction of Valley Bureau. West Valley's 350 sworn officers serve a population of almost 300,000 residents and a working community of approximately 160,000 people, in the areas of Reseda, West Hills, Woodland Hills, Encino, Tarzana, Sherman Oaks (part), Northridge (part), Winnetka, and Canoga Park. West Valley officers patrol over 750 street miles, the most in the city, and provide service at the lowest cost per capita of any Los Angeles Police Department division.
