West Valley Area Mission Statement

West Valley Area’s mission is to enhance the quality of Valley life and the safety of our residents by working in partnership with the community to reduce crime, pursue violent criminal offenders, and create a safe travel environment through the application of consistent traffic enforcement.

The West Valley Philosophy

West Valley Area is committed to reducing crime through the application of targeted enforcement. Consistently during the past three years, overall crime has been reduced so that to date, the accumulated reduction equals an approximate 37% decline in crime.

Although the outlook for the future at West Valley is a positive one, it is also logical to assume that further reductions in crime will not be easily accomplished. Therefore, the setting of realistic goals for our Annual Work Plan is one of the main focal points addressed by the West Valley Management Team.

West Valley believes the following Work Plan contains the logical ideas and concepts necessary to achieve our selected crime and traffic goals, and that it will show clear and measurable results. To a large extent, the downward crime trend in West Valley can be attributed to the on-going patrol, vice, and narcotic arrests in problem crime locations previously identified. The increased level of traffic enforcement has also had a significant impact on crime problems, as officers who are heavily involved in routine traffic enforcement have made numerous excellent arrests. West Valley stands firm in its conviction that the application of these same resources, combined with our ability to quickly identify emerging crime patterns through Crime Analysis Detail (CAD) Unit information, will move us forward toward the successful achievement of the goals contained in the 2000/2001 West Valley Annual Work Plan.

West Valley Goals

Zero increase in Part 1 Violent Crimes (Homicide, Rape, Robbery, ADW).
Reduce A and K Accidents by three percent.
Reduce backlog of Category 1 Cases to a total Operations Support monthly number of 50 or less.
Reduce Gang related crime by 5%.
Reduce Department initiated complaints by 10%.
