Officers Saved Woman from a Burning House NR14144nvLos Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department West Valley Area and Metropolitan Division officers responded heroically when they located a house on fire.
On April 10, 2014, around 12:49 p.m., West Valley Area Officers Nicholas Noles, Matthew Whitelaw and Metropolin Division Officer Boyan Brkic were in the area of the 17800 block of Vanowen Street when they observed a residential home engulfed in flames.
The Officers realized Los Angeles Fire Department was not at scene and feared that victims might be trapped inside of the residence. As the Officers checked for possible victims through the house windows, they were advised by neighbors that children were trapped inside of the house. Neighbors directed officers to a side window from where they can see a female trapped inside of the residence.
Reacting quickly, the Officers were able to extract an 18-year-old female from the house through a window. The victim was carried to safety and treated by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics at the scene. The victim was later transported to a local hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.
All three officers were transported to a local hospital where they were also treated for smoke inhalation and later released.
Officers Brkic, Noles, and Whitelaw, are to be commended for their heroic actions while upholding the proud traditions of the Los Angeles Police Department.
