Home Invasion Robbery in Woodland Hills

Los Angeles: On Friday, March 28, 2003, at approximately 9:00 a.m., a home invasion robbery occurred in the 6000 block of Northpoint Avenue in Woodland Hills. A Woodland Hills resident was alone inside her residence when she heard a noise inside her home. When she went to investigate, she was confronted by a suspect. The suspect tied the victim’s hands and ankles together with a cord. As the suspect searched her residence, the victim recalled advice she had learned on the Oprah Winfrey Show that in this type of situation the best course of action is to get out of the house.

She struggled to free herself from the restraints. Once freed, she ran out her front door. Her audible alarm was activated and the suspect ran out of the house as well. The victim was able to get to a neighbor’s house and call 911. Responding officers searching the area were unable to locate the suspect. The suspect escaped with cash and jewelry.

The suspect is described as a male Hispanic with black hair. He is approximately 5’ 8", 170 pounds and 30 years of age. He was wearing a blue shirt, black jeans and dark shoes.

A composite drawing of the suspect is available at West Valley Area Police Station, 19020 Vanowen Avenue, Reseda.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Valley Area Detectives at 818-756-8553. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at the Detective Information Desk, 1-877-LAWFULL, 1-877-529-3855.
