Deadly Crash in West Hills

Los Angeles:  LAPD Valley Traffic detectives remind the public about safe driving practices after a severe traffic collision occurred in the community of West Hills.

On Sunday, August 21, 2011, at around 3 a.m., a man, accompanied by a female passenger, was driving northbound on Topanga Canyon Boulevard in a white 2006 Scion TC sedan.  The driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his car at a bend in the roadway just south of Marrilla Street. The car collided with a wooden utility pole on the east side of Topanga Canyon Boulevard then continued northbound colliding with several other fixed objects.

LAFD rescue ambulance personnel responded and pronounced both occupants dead at the scene. The names of the occupants will not be released pending notification of next of kin. No arrests have been made and the investigation is being conducted by Valley Traffic Detectives.  Drivers are reminded to obey the speed limit and to always designate a sober driver.
