Sisters Injured in Hit and Run Accident

Los Angeles: Two young girls were struck by a vehicle at a crosswalk in the Mid City area of Los Angeles.

On October 8, 2007, at around 7:20 a.m., 24-year-old  Jorge Porfirio Soliz-Ramos was driving a 1990 Nissan Maxima in the area of Olympic Boulevard and Keniston Avenue, when he struck the sisters as they crossed the street. The sisters, age 11 and 12, were seriously injured and transported to a local hospital.

Soliz-Ramos attempted to leave the location without identifying himself and rendering help to the victims. A witness followed Soliz-Ramos,  prevented him from leaving the scene and called the police.

West Traffic Division officers responded to the scene and arrested Soliz-Ramos for felony hit and run. Soliz-Ramos was booked at Wilshire Area jail and bail was set at $80,000.00.

Anyone with additional information is asked to contact West Traffic Division, at 213-473-0234. After hours and on weekends, call the 24-hour toll free number at the Detective Information Desk at 1-877-LAW-FULL (877-529-3855).
