Man Shot and Killed in the Mid City Area

Los Angeles: Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) detectives are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred early this morning on the 4600 block of West Venice Boulevard.

On Sunday, August 24, 2008 at about 1:30 a.m., officers from Wilshire Division responded to a shooting call where they found two victims of gunshot wounds. 27-year-old, Christian Gutierrez a resident of Los Angeles was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim was transported to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

The two victims were approached by two Hispanic males believed to be gang members. The two suspects suddenly began shooting injuring both victims. The suspects were last seen running away from the scene.
