What:
On the occasion of April being National Volunteer Appreciation Month.  The Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Area Station along with Campanile Restaurant are hosting a luncheon for our volunteers.  We would like to acknowledge the dedication and commitment to service to the Wilshire community.  The volunteers perform a vital role and help accomplish our goal to best serve our community.  The men and women of the Los Angeles Police Department would like to thank you for your time and service you have given to the community.

Why:
Volunteers are people who donate their time and talents to a group or a cause without compensation or expectation of compensation.  Organizations concentrate the talents and contributions of millions of volunteers on causes that are stunning in their scope and variety.  It has even developed a profession and a group of organizations focused entirely on volunteer administration. The volunteer work force accommodates the intern volunteer working for college credit, the retired volunteer and police reserve officers.  Volunteerism is still a greatly respected way of life in the United States. It is changing rapidly as the world changes, but despite growing competition it is still safe to say that where there exists a need, there exists a volunteer who will fill it.
