Police Administrator Thom Brennan grew up in the Northeast Los Angeles neighborhoods of Highland Park and Eagle Rock. He attended Loyola Marymount University and obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History. Mr. Brennan started his career with the City of Los Angeles in 1988 at the Community Development Department and worked for the Housing Department and Department of Public Works prior to promoting to the Police Department in 1993.
After working in Employee Relations Group and Civilian Employment Section, Mr. Brennan was appointed as Commanding Officer, Personnel Division in 2000. In 2006, Police Administrator Brennan was assigned as Commanding Officer, Facilities Management Division and tasked with completion of the LAPD’s One Billion Dollar Capital Building Program which included the construction of new and replacement police stations, specialized facilities and the Police Administration Building. With the completion of the building program, Mr. Brennan has focused his Division’s efforts on Department sustainability issues, maintenance and repair of existing facilities and planning for future capital improvements for the LAPD.
