Orlando Chandler

Bio

Captain Orlando Chandler
grew up in the County of Los Angeles and attended University High
School in West Los Angeles. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in
Economics from California State University Dominguez Hills. Captain
Chandler is also a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory
Leadership Institute and the West Point Leadership Program.
Chandler joined the Los Angeles Police Department in 1988. After
graduating from the Police Academy, he worked at Harbor and Pacific
Divisions. In 1994, he promoted to Field Training Officer at
Central Division where he later became a Senior Lead Officer
working hand in hand with the business community.

Captain Chandler promoted to Sergeant in 1997 and worked several
assignments to include Field Supervisor, Complaint Sergeant,
Bicycle Unit Supervisor, and Patrol Adjutant. Chandler promoted to
Assistant Watch Commander and worked in Foothill and West Valley
Divisions. He later worked as an Internal Affairs Complaint
Investigator where he received Investigator of the Year
Honors.

In 2013, Captain Chandler promoted to the rank of Lieutenant at
Rampart Division. While at Rampart Division, he served as the Watch
Commander and later became the Assistant Commanding Officer of
Rampart Detectives. In 2014, Chandler was upgraded to the position
of Assistant Commanding Officer of Facilities Management Division
where he oversaw the Department’s Security Management System. In
March of 2018, Chandler promoted to the rank of Captain and was
assigned to Central Patrol Division as the Patrol Commanding
Officer. In December of 2018, Captain Chandler transferred to
Operation Valley Bureau and is currently the Commanding Officer of
Custody Services Division.
