Captain Oddo was born and raised in Southern California. After high school, Captain Oddo joined the United States Marine Corps Reserve for a six-year tour of duty as a rifleman. He simultaneously attended and graduated from California State University, Fullerton, receiving a BA in Finance.
Captain Oddo began his law enforcement career with the Arcadia Police Department in 1986. Oddo joined the Los Angeles Police Department in 1989. As an officer, Oddo was assigned to Newton Street Area and Southeast Area, where he worked assignments in patrol, CRASH, and Special Enforcement Group. In 1998, he was promoted to Sergeant where he had assignments in Hollywood Area (field sergeant, vice supervisor and Assistant Watch Commander) and Southeast Area (field sergeant and Assistant Watch Commander).
In 2008, Oddo was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and assigned to 77th Street Area as a Watch Commander. In 2012, Oddo attended and graduated from the FBI National Academy, Session 249. Since promoting to Captain in 2013, Oddo has had assignments in Olympic Patrol, Northeast Patrol, Custody Services Division and Wilshire Area.
Captain Oddo is currently the Commanding Officer of Gang and Narcotics Division.
