A 28-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department, Commander Paglialonga was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His family moved to Southern California while Paglialonga was a child, and he was raised in the San Pedro Community of the City of Los Angeles.
Commander Paglialonga attended California State University, Long Beach where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration/Management in 1989. Having a strong desire to serve our Country, Paglialonga joined the United States Marine Corps where he served in both Enlisted and Officer capacities. In 1990 he was deployed for Operation Desert Storm and was deployed again in 2004 for Operation Iraqi Freedom where he served in Ar Ramadi, Iraq.
Commander Paglialonga joined the Los Angeles Police Department in 1993. During his career he has been assigned to a variety of Areas throughout the City to include Newton Area, Pacific Area, Operations-West Bureau, Southeast Area, Harbor Area, Operations-South Bureau and 77th Street Area, where he worked Patrol, Gang Enforcement, and Detective assignments.
After being promoted to Detective, Paglialonga soon found himself assigned to Southeast Area Homicide, where his passion for investigations and to serve the people of the South Los Angeles Community flourished.
As a Homicide Detective he was assigned to Southeast, Pacific, and Harbor Areas where he concluded his detective career as a Detective III serving as the Officer-In-Charge of the Harbor Area Homicide Unit.
His experience of serving people during these most tragic circumstances have been both challenging, and yet a profoundly rewarding to Commander Paglialonga. In this work, he developed the strongest sense of service to others, and reaffirmed his strong commitment to the importance of relationship-based policing. Having seen the tragedy and damage that violence can inflict on our community, Paglialonga’s priority of work in every assignment has been to put people first, and to take a leadership role in ensuring that our Communities are as safe as possible.
Upon promotion to Lieutenant in 2012, Paglialonga was assigned to 77th Street Area Patrol, Southeast Area Patrol, and Operations-South Bureau. Prior to his promotion to Captain, Paglialonga served as the Commanding Officer of 77th Street Area Detective Division.
In March of 2017, Commander Paglialonga was promoted to the rank of Captain and was assigned as the Commanding Officer, Southeast Patrol Division and then later as the Area Commanding Officer of Southeast Area.
Currently, Commander Paglialonga is the Assistant Commanding Officer, Operations-South Bureau where he is responsible for all patrol, detective and specialized unit operations, personnel, budgetary, and community engagement efforts in 77th Street, Southwest, Harbor and Southeast Areas.
