Bio

Captain Lonnie Tiano was born and raised in the City of Los Angeles. He began his law enforcement career in 1986 when he accepted a position with the Los Angeles Police Department. Upon completion of academy training, he was assigned to Van Nuys Division where he completed his probationary training and then moved on to work as a patrol officer and field training officer in the 77th Street Division, West Bureau Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums (CRASH), and again in the Van Nuys Division.

Captain Tiano promoted to sergeant in 2001 and was assigned to the Hollywood Division where he interacted with the very diverse community of not only the residents of the area, but also the many tourists from across the world visiting Hollywood to experience one of the entertainment capitals of the world. As a sergeant, Captain Tiano worked a variety of assignments in different areas and was an Assistant Watch Commander in the Devonshire Area when he was promoted to lieutenant in 2012.

As a lieutenant, Captain Tiano was assigned to Wilshire Division, West Traffic Division, Counter-Terrorism and Special Operations Bureau, and Hollywood Division until his being promoted to Captain in 2023. He is currently assigned as the Patrol Commanding Officer of West Los Angeles Division.

Captain Tiano holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice management. He has attended the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute, the Peace Officer Standards and Training Management Course, and the Los Angeles Police Command Development Course.
