Off-Duty Los Angeles Police Officer Involved in a Shooting in the City of Anaheim NRF014-17cr

**Update** The off-duty officer involved in the below incident has been identified as Police Officer II Kevin Ferguson, Serial #41402.

**The following information is based on a preliminary and ongoing investigation, which continues to evolve as investigators interview witnesses, review physical and electronic records, and analyze forensic evidence. The Department’s understanding of the facts and circumstances may change as additional evidence is collected and analyzed**

Anaheim: On February 21, 2017 LAPD’s specialized Force Investigation Division (FID) detectives responded to a location in the City of Anaheim to conduct an investigation into an off-duty officer-involved-shooting. An investigator from the Office of the Inspector General also responded to the location. Personnel from the Anaheim Police Department were at scene conducting the criminal investigation of the incident.

FID investigators are aware there is video of the incident and will review all video in this case. The officer is currently on administrative leave.

The complete investigation will be reviewed by the Chief of Police and the Board of Police Commissioners to determine whether the use of force complied with LAPD’s policies and procedures.
