On October 29, 2018, around 9:00 a.m., Hollywood Area Officer Edward Agdeppa, Serial No. 41000, and his partner responded to a radio call at a gym in the 6300 block of Sunset Boulevard. The officers were directed to the suspect, later identified as Albert Ramon Dorsey, who was in a male locker room area. One of the officers used a TASER to attempt to take Dorsey into custody. During the altercation, Dorsey was able to gain control of an officer’s TASER, he punched and broke Officer Agdeppa’s nose, and forced his partner to the ground and repeatedly struck her in the face with his fists, resulting in Officer Agdeppa firing at Dorsey. Dorsey was still in possession of the TASER.

Dorsey was struck by gunfire and determined to be deceased by personnel from the Los Angeles Fire Department. Both officer’s sustained injuries to their head and face area from the altercation and were treated at a local hospital.
