Emmy Award Winning Actor Dennis Franz Tapped to Host Police-Celebrity Golf Tournament

28th Annual Event Set for Saturday, May 15, 1999

Dennis Franz, the Emmy award-winning actor who plays Detective Andy Sipowicz on NYPD Blue, the gritty ABC series, will join Police Chief Bernard C. Parks to host the 28th Annual Los Angeles Police-Celebrity Golf Tournament, on Saturday, May 15 at Rancho Park in West Los Angeles.

The tournament benefits the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation, which provides emergency financial assistance to officers and civilians of the Police Department in the event of death, serious injury, illness or other catastrophic circumstances.

To date, 44 celebrities have signed up to participate in the star-studded annual tournament.

The public is invited to join in the event. Adult admission is $4; children 12 and under are admitted free. Parking is free with shuttles provided from adjacent parking areas. Tickets are available at all police stations and at the gate on the day of the event.

More than just a golf tournament, this family event features added attractions, including the largest police department open house with LAPD displays of tactical equipment and specialty units like Narcotics, K-9, SWAT, and Bomb Squad throughout the course. Food booths, carnival rides, a petting zoo, and other children’s activities make this an ideal event for family or group outings.
