"Two Female Victims of Gunfire, One Dies"

Los Angeles – Hollenbeck Homicide Detectives are investigating a Drive-By gang related shooting. The shooting resulted in the death of a female Hispanic, approximately 20 years old and the wounding of another female, 14 years old. Detectives’ investigation revealed that the victims were sitting on the sidewalk on the north/west corner of Gleason Street and Mathews Street at approximately 9:20 p.m. on May 21,2000. A dark, blue Toyota containing three, possible, male Hispanic suspects, the suspects approached the victims’ location. One of the suspects in the vehicle fired several rounds from an unknown type handgun from the passenger side of the vehicle. The suspects then fled the location westbound on Gleason Street and continued northbound on Mathews Street. Both victims sustained gunshot wounds, one to the chest area and the other to the abdomen area. The victims were transported to local hospitals for medical treatment. The female, 20-year-old victim succumbed to her injuries. The female, 14-year-old victim is listed in critical, but stable condition.
