Police Seek Attempt Murder Suspect in Rampart Area

May 25, 2005

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating a man, Victor Manual Jimenz, 27 years, who is wanted for the attempted murder of his two roommates in January 2005.
Jimenez shot at both of his roommates, from close range, after they had asked him to turn down a television. The boyfriend and girlfriend, both in their twenties, were allowing Jimenez to live with them in the 400 block of North Coronado Street.
On the morning of January 9, 2005, Jimenez had locked himself in the victims’ bedroom and turned up the television volume. Jimenez’ unusual behavior made the victims think he was up to no good in the room. When they demanded Jimenez open the door and move out, he threatened to kill them.
Jimenez retrieved a handgun from his brown 1984 Honda, parked outside. He returned and forced his way into the house by breaking a window with the butt of the gun. As both victims scrambled to get away from him, Jimenez shot the woman in the stomach, then fired four more shots at the boyfriend, as he ran into a bedroom.
When police arrived, they found the girlfriend conscious and shot in the stomach. Four more bullet holes were in a bedroom door, but the boyfriend was uninjured. Jimenez escaped in his Honda. Both victims identified Jimenez as the shooter. Jimenez’ car was later found and is no longer wanted.
Jimenez is Hispanic and speaks Spanish. He is 5 feet 6 inches, with brown hair and brown eyes. He weighs 190 pounds. He goes by the nickname GORDO. He never returned to his job after the shooting, and he is known to use narcotics. He may be employed as a janitor.
"We expected to find Jimenez quickly, but our leads have run out," said Officer Contreras of the Rampart Detective Division. "We need the public’s help in finding him. We think he’s still in the Los Angeles area, armed and dangerous."
Anyone with information is asked to call Officers Luis Contreras or Mario Rojas at 213-207-2148. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at the Detective Information Desk at 1-877-LAWFULL (1-877-529-3855).
