"Gunshot Claims the Life of a Hispanic Man"

Van Nuys – On Sunday, November 26, 2000, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Van Nuys Area Community Police Station patrol officers responded to a radio call of an "assault with a deadly weapon/ shot fired" in the 6400 block of Haskell Avenue in Van Nuys. Upon arrival to the location, responding officers discovered the body of an approximately 40 year-old male Hispanic who had been shot in the upper torso.

Very little is known regarding the circumstances of the shooting, however it is known that the victim is a transient and apparently made his residence underneath an overpass of the 405 freeway near Haskell Avenue and Victory Boulevard exit with a group of male Hispanics.

The victim’s identity has not been established and his next of kin has not yet been notified.
