The 98 Cent Store Robber Caught on Video

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Area Robbery Section is seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect responsible for robbing the 98 Cent Store, located at 1535 South Western Avenue, Los Angeles.
On May 8, 2003, at approximately 12:00 p.m., a male, Black suspect parked his bicycle near the store’s entrance, then selected various items from the shelves. The suspect brought the items to the register counter and as the cashier was ringing them up, the suspect produced a handgun from his waistband and demanded money from the register. The cashier opened the register and the suspect took the money then fled from the store on his bicycle.
A surveillance videotape caught the suspect’s image and is available to the Media at the Media Relations Office located at 150 North Los Angeles Street. The suspect is described as a male Black, brown eyes, black hair, 5’7, 190 lbs. and approximately 40 years-old.
