March 1, 2009

On March 23, 2009, at about 12:15 p.m., Ron Lee Musgraves, the 38-year-old father of the abandoned baby, was arrested and booked for Child Abandonment.  Musgraves had elicited the help of a friend to take Musgraves six month old baby inside Olympia Hospital and leave her there.  Musgraves is being held on $20,000.00 bail.

****UPDATE****
March 1, 2009, 9:00 p.m., Wilshire Detectives are in the process of reuniting Baby Jane Doe with her mother.  The circumstances are still under investigation, but the mother is not suspected of being involved with the abandonment.
Detectives have learned that Baby Doe’s mother took the baby for a weekend visit with the biological father.  Less than a half hour after leaving the child with her father, she was dropped off at Olympia Hospital.  The individual in the video is not the baby’s father and his identity is still being sought.  The father has not yet been located or interviewed.
Detectives want to thank the media for their coverage of this story.  It was through a television broadcast that the infant’s grandparents saw their granddaughter’s story and photographs, prompting them to call police.
Los Angeles: A baby was abandoned at Olympia Hospital by an unknown male.  The LAPD is investigating the circumstances of the abandonment and attempting to locate the baby’s parents along with identifying the male that dropped the baby off.

Wilshire Detectives are investigating the circumstances of the abandonment of the baby and are hoping by releasing a photo of the baby and the unknown male that dropped her off that someone might recognized him and or the baby and call the LAPD.
