Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) Application Guidelines

The Los Angeles Police Department is aware of the recent June 23, 2022 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in New York State Rifle & Pistol Assn. v. Bruen, concerning the issuance of public-carry licenses.

As the Los Angeles Police Department evaluates the Bruen decision and forthcoming amendments to California’s CCW statutes, be advised that any changes to the Department’s policies or procedures will be posted on its public webpage.

The Los Angeles Police Department has been advised by the California Department of Justice (CA DOJ) regarding the forthcoming implementation of an updated CCW application process. CA DOJ  anticipates that a committee will convene to revise the BOF4012 CCW application form during the month of July, 2022. The Department will closely monitor CA DOJ’s progress and will continue to provide updated information on this website.
