The FSD Quality Assurance Unit is responsible for implementing, operating, and monitoring the quality system of the laboratory. The unit continuously evaluates the laboratory through audits, performance monitoring, analysis of feedback, risk assessment, and corrective action.
The Quality Assurance Unit is also responsible for maintaining the laboratory’s accreditation. Besides FSD’s internal reviews, the laboratory is assessed annually by its external accrediting body for conformance to established quality and technical requirements. Accreditation demonstrates to the legal system and the public that the laboratory meets internationally established quality and technical requirements for forensic laboratories.
