Emergency Preparedness Unit

• Prepare Incident/Event Action Plans (I/EAP) for policing non-emergency special events when anticipated policing requirements exceed the capability of the concerned geographic Bureau as determined by Counter-Terrorism and Special Operations Bureau (CTSOB);
• Maintains a repository of EAPs/IAPs;
• Coordinates Incident Command System (ICS) 300 and 400 courses;
• Coordinates Emergency Operations Center training;
• Coordinates the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator Program;
• Audits Department Standing Plans and Continuity of Operations Plans;
• Authors and/or updates the Emergency Operations Guide, the Department Emergency Plan, and the City of Los Angeles Emergency Operations Plan and Annexes. Coordinates emergency preparedness/planning activities with the Emergency Management Department, Los Angeles Fire Department, and other agencies/departments; and,
• Assigned to major incidents at Department Command Posts in the field in uniform.
