Officer-Involved Shooting

"Officer Involved Shooting"

Los Angeles: On Saturday, April 9, 2005 at about 8:30 p.m., Southeast Division Police Officer II Oscar Ontiveros, Serial No. 35946, 32 years old and four years on the Department, and Police Officer II Darren Stauffer, Serial No. 36747, 34 years old and two years on the Department were involved in an officer involved shooting with a man armed with an assault rifle.

The officers were on patrol southbound Belhaven Street approaching 112th Street when they saw a man, armed with an assault rifle, walking northbound Belhaven Street, just north of 112th Street. As the officers illuminated him, he pointed the rifle at the officers, and an officer involved shooting occurred.

The man was later identified as Spencer Johnson a male Black, 31 years old. He was transported to a local hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

Force Investigation Division, Criminal Detectives are handling the investigation.
