Juvenile Rapist is Caught

Monday, August 23, 1999


On August 20, 1999 at approximately 11:00 pm, a 17 year old female was returning to her home and was confronted by a stranger in the hallway of her residence in the Mid-Wilshire District. The suspect attempted to rob and then sexually assaulted the victim.

Later, in the early morning hours of August 21, 1999, the suspect was identified and arrested by Wilshire Area Patrol Officers near the original location of the assault. The suspect is a 17 year old male, who frequents the victim's neighborhood. Detectives located evidence linking the suspect to the crime at the arrest location.

The suspect is being detained at Eastlake Juvenile Hall pending presentation of the case to the District Attorney for criminal filing.

Major Assault Crimes Detectives from Operations-Support Division at Wilshire Area are conducting the investigation.
