Christmas Charity Airlift to Mexico

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Friday, December 15, 2000

"Christmas Charity Airlift to Mexico"

Van Nuys - On Saturday, December 16, 2000, at 9:30 a.m., six airplanes piloted by off-duty Los Angeles police officers will airlift the Christmas gifts to Mexico. The 200-mile flight will depart from Van Nuys Airport. The departure location is the Westcam Ramp located on the southwest corner of Sherman Way and Hayvenhurst Drive.

For six consecutive years, Officers and civilian staff from the West Los Angeles Police Station have donated toys, school supplies, sports equipment, clothes and household items for needy children and families in Mexicali, Mexico. Members of the West Los Angeles community have also supported this year's charity program. Since the beginning of the program, West Los Angeles police officers decided to reach out to our neighbors in Mexico as a gesture of international good will.

For further information, contact Senior Lead Officers Phillip Enbody and Dennis Hinman at 310-575-8401 or 8423.

This media advisory was prepared by Public Information Officer Jason Lee, Media Relations Section, 213-485-3586.
