Two Pedestrians Severely Injured in Hit and Run Traffic Collision NR134504bb

UPDATE
November 27, 2013

Earlier today, 18-year-old Miguel Angel Jimenez was taken into custody.  Jimenez was booked for Felony Hit-and Run and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Los Angeles:  On Tuesday, November 26, 2013, around 11:00 p.m., Valley Traffic Division officers were called to investigate a severe injury traffic collision that occurred on Hunnewell Avenue, north of Pierce Street, in the community of Lakeview Terrace, California.

The preliminary investigation shows that a group of people, including two 17 year old females became involved in a dispute that led to a physical altercation in the roadway.  Witnesses report that 18 year old Miguel Angel Jimenez Jr was involved in the altercation. When Jimenez reportedly attempted to flee the scene he struck the two 17 year old pedestrians, dragging them under his car, until they dislodged and were left severely injured in the roadway.  It is alleged Jimenez failed to stop at the scene and render aid to the victims.  Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the two victims to a local hospital for medical treatment.

The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division.

Anyone with information about this collision is asked to contact Valley Traffic Division Detectives, Detective Bustos at (818) 644-8021 or Officer Fredo at (818) 644-8037.  During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (877-527-3247).  Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477). Tipsters may also contact Crime Stoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone.  All text messages should begin with the letters “LAPD.”  Tipsters may also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on "webtips" and follow the prompts.
