The LAPD Announces the Arrest of a Hollywood Murder Suspect NR13016cj

On January 13, 2013, shortly after 2:00 a.m., a large fight erupted outside of a night club in the 1700 block of North Cahuenga Boulevard.  During the altercation 19-year-old Andre Lowe was shot.  Lowe was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The combined efforts of LAPD’s West Bureau Homicide and Hollywood Area detectives were able to gather evidence, including a video from a media outlet, to identify a suspect in the shooting.

Last night, 22-year-old Los Angeles resident Robert Earl Thomas was located and arrested in Las Vegas, Nevada by members of the Las Vegas Metropolitan-FBI Fugitive Task Force. Thomas has been charged with murder and faces extradition back to California.  The investigation is still ongoing and investigators are looking to identify others that were in the video.

Anyone with information is urged to call LAPD West Bureau Homicide investigators at 213-382-9470.  During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7.  Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477).  Tipsters may also contact Crime Stoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone.  All text messages should begin with the letters “LAPD.” Tipsters may also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on "webtips" and follow the prompts.
