"Fatal Gang Related Shooting"

Los Angeles - On Tuesday, July 18, 2000 at 7:45 p.m., a 25 year-old male, (name withheld pending notification of next of kin), was fatally shot at Maple Avenue and 27th Street. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to USCMC by paramedics. He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 8:29 p.m.

The suspects were described only as two male Hispanics, driving a mid-sized vehicle, possibly blue in color, last seen traveling eastbound on 28th Street from Maple Avenue.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect was on foot at the time of the shooting. A medium caliber, semi-automatic pistol was used. The suspects and the weapon are outstanding.

The shooting appears to be gang related. No suspects have been identified.
