."First-ever Conference of Law Enforcement and Private Security, LEAPS 2000"
Los Angeles - Los Angeles Police Chief Bernard C. Parks will present opening remarks at the first ever Los Angeles Police Department and Private Security Conference (LEAPS 2000) on March 30, 2000 at 8:00A.M.at the Hyatt Regency, 700 S. Hope Street in downtown Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Police Department has joined with the American Society of Industrial Security, Target Corporation-Mervyn's, ADT Security Services, Food Marketing Institute and Checkpoint to exchange information between senior level LAPD officers, experts from electronic security companies and business leaders representing private security in major corporations. The focus of the conference is to build working relationships that will enhance service provided to the people who live and work in Los Angeles.
Nearly 500 people are expected to attend the all day conference. Following remarks by Chief Parks, the General Assembly will discuss "What Law Enforcement Can Do for You and Your Business" and Private Industry Resources Available to Law Enforcement. The luncheon keynote speaker will be Scott Hewitt of the American Society of Industrial Security.
"We hope this first of its kind conference in Los Angeles will illustrate how technology and the private security industry can enhance, support and improve the job we do as a police agency. When public and private forces unite in the battle against crime, open the lines of communication and begin building partnerships, the rewards will be safer streets in Los Angeles," said Chief Parks.
