Los Angeles: The 29th Annual Los Angeles Police Department Reserve Corps Recognition Banquet will be held on Saturday evening, March 15, 2003, at the Hilton Los Angeles Airport Hotel. The banquet affords an opportunity for both community members and Department personnel to honor our Reserve Officers.

The Los Angeles Police Reserve Corps is compromised of community members who volunteer their time to augment the staff of, and fulfill many of the roles handled by, full-time sworn police officers. Reserve officers, depending on their level, receive the same training as regular officers. They work alongside regular police officers in many aspects of Department operations.

The Los Angeles Police Reserve Corps has over 650 active reserve officers and is the largest Police Department Reserve Unit in California. Accredited by the California Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST), the Los Angeles Police Department’s Reserve officers are perhaps the finest in the nation.

For further information, contact the Los Angeles Police Department Reserve Coordinator Volunteer Services Section, 213-485-4097.

This media advisory was prepared by Public Information Officer Adriana N. Sanchez, Media Relations Section, 213-485-3586.
