Man Dies in the Street from Gunshot Wounds

Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Southwest Area Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting death of Andres Campos a male Hispanic, 20 years old.

On Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at approximately 10:30 p.m., Los Angeles residents heard multiple gunshots being fired in the 2800 block of Duray Place. When the residents went outside to investigate they found the victim lying in the street suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Both the Los Angeles Police and City Fire Departments responded. The Los Angeles City Fire Department pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The Officers investigation revealed that the victim had been at a nearby market parking lot located in the 5200 block of West Adams Boulevard, when he became involved in a verbal dispute with a group of male Hispanics. A few minutes later the victim left the parking lot and was confronted by an unknown number of male Hispanics in a vehicle. The suspect(s) shot Campos then fled the scene. It is unknown at this time if the incident is gang related.

Anyone with information that may assist in this investigation is urged to contact Southwest Area Homicide Detectives at 213-485-2417. On weekends and during off-hours, call the 24-hour toll free number at the Detective Information Desk, 1-877- LAWFULL.
