Woman Carjacked and Sexually Assaulted

Los Angeles:  A woman who thought she was helping a man get away from gang members who had just physically assaulted him was carjacked and sexually assaulted by the man.

On Sunday, May 3, 2009, at about 9:30 p.m., an 18-year-old woman was in the parking lot of a market located in the 10900 block of Sherman Way in the City of Burbank.  As she was getting into her car, a suspect approached her on foot and asked if she would give him a ride out of the area because he had just been attacked by local gang members.

The victim agreed to take the man to Victory Boulevard and Vineland Avenue.  Once there, the suspect pulled out a knife and threatened the victim with it.  He forced the victim to drive him to the City of Santa Clarita where he sexually assaulted her inside her vehicle. He then drove away in her car and left her behind.

The suspect is a Hispanic man with short brown hair, brown eyes, 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, 180 pounds, 22-26 years of age.  He was last seen driving away in the victim’s car and wearing a gray sweatshirt, green T-shirt, blue jeans, and white tennis shoes.  The victim’s car is a 2000 Honda Accord, 4-door, silver in color, with a license plate of 6GMT752.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of this car or has any information about this crime, they are urged to call Robbery Homicide Detective Gregg Stone, Special Assault Section, at 213-473-6668 or 213-485-2921.  During off-hours, calls may be directed to a 24-hour, toll-free number at 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (527-3247).  Callers may also text “Crimes” with a cell phone or log on to www.lapdonline.org and click on Web tips. When using a cell phone, all messages should begin with “LAPD.”  Tipsters may remain anonymous.
