Seeking Additional Victims of Sexual Assault Suspect NR18097ti

Sherman Oaks: On August 13, 2015, Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department, Van Nuys Division, executed a search warrant at a private residence located near the 4200 block of Sunnyslope Avenue. Detectives arrested 65-year-old Michael Bernback for Rape. Bernback posted bail and is awaiting a preliminary hearing.

Mr. Bernback is known to have trolled adult websites seeking companionship with women, for which he would compensate them with money. He would arrange meetings with women at his residence and would engage in consensual sexual activities. However, Mr. Bernback would exceed the activities that were initially discussed, forcing victims to participate in sexual activities that were injurious to the victims.

Van Nuys Sex Detectives developed information to indicate that Bernback has preyed upon women in this manner since 2013. Any additional victims who may have been reluctant to report similar crimes committed by Bernback are encouraged to contact Van Nuys Detective Division.
