Assault on Officers results in an Officer Involved Shooting

Los Angeles: A 17 year-old juvenile shoots at officers which ends in an officer involved shooting.

On December 14, 2007, at about 11:40 PM, officers were patrolling in the area of Broadway and 60th Street. They observed a juvenile driving a gray, Toyota Camry, the suspect was the front seat passenger.

A license plate check revealed that the vehicle was stolen. A vehicle pursuit ensued, during which the suspect fired a handgun at the pursuing officers. The pursuit terminated at 61st Street and Denker Avenue.

The suspect quickly exited the vehicle and pointed a 40-caliber semi automatic pistol at the officers. Officer Sandra Infante fired 3 rounds, striking the suspect twice, in the knee and hand.

The suspect was then taken into custody and transported to a local hospital.

No officers were injured.

The suspect’s loaded 40-caliber semi automatic pistol was recovered at scene.

Robbery Homicide Division is investigating the crime against the officers.

Force Investigation Division is investigating the use of force.
