Alcohol May Have Contributed To Fatal Crash
Los Angeles: A 23-year-old Hispanic man, suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol, collided with a school bus and died instantly.
On August 15, 2008, at around 6:30 a.m., a man driving westbound on Slauson Avenue near Avalon Boulevard in a 1988 Toyota Camry, lost control of his car and drifted into the path of a school bus that was traveling eastbound on Slauson Avenue. The driver, later identified as Quevedo Alberto Flores Cruz, died instantly at the scene. His only passenger, an adult female was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
There were no children or other passengers on board the school bus. The bus driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at a nearby hospital. Investigators believe Cruz was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
