Why:
The Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation will present the 2009 Merit-Based College Scholarships Awards at the Elysian Park Police Academy Rock Garden.   
                        
Six college-bound dependents of LAPD employees will receive $5,000 scholarships that can be renewed for three additional years.  The scholarship program, now in its 10th year, has granted over $900,000 to talented young people.  The scholarship is based on academic accomplishments and extra-circular activity.
