Los Angeles: On Monday, November 26, 2001, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the Southeast Operation Support Division Homicide Unit will conduct a press conference seeking the public’s assistance in solving the brutal slaying of Bertha Logan.

On October 30, 2001, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Mrs. Bertha Logan was working in an office located within the Sheenway School and Culture Center located on the 10100 block of South Broadway. As she sat at her desk, an unidentified suspect entered the office, produced a handgun and shot Mrs. Logan several times in the upper torso without anyone observing him. The suspect fled the office in an unknown direction and no other information is currently available regarding the suspect or the motive for the shooting.

Mrs. Logan was discovered a short time later by neighbors, and subsequently pronounced dead at the scene by responding paramedics.

Detectives have been unsuccessful in locating any eyewitnesses to this shooting and are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the killer of Bertha Logan. Anyone with information regarding this shooting should call Southeast Homicide Detectives at 213-485-6902 or 213-485-6914 during off-hours.

Bertha Logan's family will be in attendance and available to answer questions from the media.
