News Conference - Wireless 911 Project Completion


What:
News conference to announce full implementation of wireless 911 calls. The calls will no longer be routed through the CHP, they will go directly to the LAPD dispatch centers for processing.

When:
Wednesday, November 15, 2006
9:45 A.M.

LAPD Metropolitan Dispatch Center- 2nd floor
100 North Los Angeles Street
Los Angeles, CA 90012

Chief William Bratton
Tim Riley, LAPD Chief Information Officer
Lieutenant Jose Vizcarra, CHP
Los Angeles Fire Department Representative

Why:
Until now, all Los Angeles 911 calls made from cellular telephones have been automatically sent to the California Highway Patrol call centers. Cellular 911 calls will now be routed directly to LAPD. Media outlets will be able to get B-roll after the news conference.
