Public's Help Needed to Find Fatal Hit & Run Driver NR10546ne

Los Angeles:  The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) West Traffic Division Detectives are asking for the public's help in locating the driver who fatally struck an elderly woman as she crossed the street.

On Saturday, November 20, 2010, at about 2:30 a.m., Gae Sum Park, 81 years of age, was crossing northbound Olympic Boulevard, east of Harvard Boulevard.  Ms. Park was walking outside of a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a possible Toyota 4-Runner SUV, light in color.  After the collision, the vehicle made a u-turn mid block Olympic Boulevard and drove away from the location westbound on Olympic Boulevard, making a left turn to southbound Harvard Boulevard.

Paramedics responded and treated Mrs. Park for major head and body trauma.  Ms. Park died at the scene.

Drivers involved in traffic collisions are required by law to stop and render aid if necessary, and identify themselves in all cases. It is apparent the driver in this case did neither. Investigators have very little to go on and are asking for anyone who may have witnessed this collision, or may have information about the suspect to please contact West Traffic Division Detectives.

West Traffic Division Detectives can be reached at 213-473-0234. During non-business hours or weekends, calls may be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7.  Anyone wishing to remain anonymous may call Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800)-222-8477).  Tipsters may also contact Crimestoppers by texting to phone number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most key pads) using a cell phone.  All text messages should begin with the letters “LAPD.”  Tipsters can also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on “web tips” and follow the prompts.
