Tuesday, October 12, 1999

On Friday evening, October 8, 1999 at approximately 5:15 p.m., three male Hispanics stated they were in the area of Watson Avenue and Young Street when they heard and then were hit by gunfire coming from an unknown direction. Victims Ray Maynez, 24 years old, Oscar Moreno, 25 years old, and Ramiro Salcedo, 25 years old, separately stated they sustained gunshots to their legs but could not identify or give the description of a suspect.

All three victims were driven to local area hospitals where they received medical treatment for their injuries. Victim Salcedo succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, October 9, 1999, at 1:20 a.m.

Harbor Area Homicide Detectives are handling the investigation. The motive for the shootings appears to be gang-related and the suspect is outstanding.
