Man Killed by Hit and Run Driver

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT

Monday, October 25, 1999

On Sunday, October 24, 1999, at approximately 11:40 PM, Jose Martinez, 33 years old, was killed by a hit-and-run driver as he crossed the street near the intersection of Alameda Street and Robidoux Street in the Wilmington Area of Los Angeles.

Immediately following the crime, witnesses observed two vehicles leaving the location at high rates of speed. The first vehicle was described as an older model tan station wagon with luggage racks on the top. The driver of the station wagon was a male Hispanic, 40 to 50 years old, possibly overweight. The second vehicle was described as an older model Datsun, Hatchback, brown in color. There were two male Caucasians about 30 years old observed in the Datsun.

The case is currently under investigation by South Traffic Division Detectives. Anyone with information concerning this hit-and-run fatal accident is urged to call the Los Angeles Police Department at 323-290-6063 or 213-485-7336.
