Spousal Dispute Turns Into Homicide

LOS ANGELES POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE
Thursday, October 14, 1999

On Thursday, October 14, 1999, at approximately 3:50 a.m., Northeast Area Uniformed Patrol Officers responded to a radio call, "Ambulance ADW, victim inside the location." Upon the officers arrival, they discovered the victim inside of her residence at the 100 block of South Avenue 52. The Los Angeles Fire Department was summoned to the scene, and paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The victim, (name withheld pending notification of next of kin) a female White, approximately 37 years of age, was discovered by a next door neighbor. The neighbor had gone to the location to check on the welfare of the occupants of the apartment. Neighbors reported hearing a verbal dispute followed by a physical altercation. The suspect exited the residence leaving behind his four year old daughter with a neighbor. The daughter was not injured as a result of the altercation between her parents. The suspect was last seen walking northbound on Figueroa Street.

At approximately 11:45 a.m., the suspect walked out from the bushes located in the Arroyo Seco area of Pasadena. The suspect walked up to a City of Pasadena Public Works crew who were working in the vicinity of the Rose Bowl. The suspect asked the work crew to find out the condition of his wife at which time a Pasadena Police Officer was flagged down who took the suspect into custody for 187 PC - Murder without incident.

The motive for the homicide at this time is unknown.

Northeast Area Homicide Detectives are conducting the investigation.
