"Fourteen Year Old Girl Killed by Hit and Run Suspect"

Los Angeles: On Tuesday, October 16, 2001 at 3:30 p.m., 45-year old Arminda Urrutia of Los Angeles was driving a 1988 Ford Aerostar westbound on 3rd Street when she collided with 14-year old Kathrina Gregorio Nachor of Los Angeles who was crossing southbound on Vendome Street in a marked crosswalk. Ms. Urrutia failed to stop, identify herself, and render aid to Ms. Nachor in violation of the Vehicle Code Section 20001(a), and fled the scene westbound on 3rd Street.

Ms. Urrutia was stopped a few blocks away from the collision scene by a witness and immediately returned to the collision scene.

Ms. Nachor received massive body trauma and was transported to the Children’s Hospital for emergency medical treatment. On October 17, 2001 at 9:35 a.m., Ms. Nachor failed to respond to continued medical treatment and was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.

Ms Urrutia was arrested and booked for 20001(a) VC and charges are pending with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
