Detectives Investigate a Shooting Related Death

Los Angeles: On Thursday, October 20, 2005, at about 8:21 p.m., LAPD patrol officers responded to a radio call of shots fired at the 13500 block of Valerio Street.
 
Upon the officers arrival at the location, officers found the victim, Frank S. Whitehead III, a male Black, 23 years old, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  A rescue ambulance responded and pronounced Whitehead dead at the scene.
 
The motive for the shooting is unknown at this time.  No witnesses to the crime have been found.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Van Nuys Homicide Unit at 818-56-8370, or during non-business hours, the Van Nuys Watch Commander at 818 756-8346.  During off- hours, the public can call the toll-free, 24-hour anonymous tip line at 1-877 LAWFULL (1-877 529-3855).
